They say the marathon boom is near its end, but in 2027 the TCS London Marathon delivered a powerful rebuttal.
100,000 people — a two-day "weekend carnival"!
On Saturday and Sunday, 24 and 25 April 2027, across two full days, 100,000 runners will take to the same iconic courseand join forces to attempt a Guinness World Record!
Naturally, as runners the questions on everyone’s mind are how to take part and the details around entry, the Ballot, and racing.
First,if you missed registration, it’s likely too late.Your only options will be to buy a Charity or tour operator place.
The traditional entry routes for the 2027 TCS London Marathon still apply, including: Ballot, Charity, Good For Age, Championships, British Athletics Clubs, International and Participants with Disabilities.
Regarding the Ballot, you may have missed it — or your chances may have doubled!
"I missed the 2027 TCS London Marathon Ballot that was open from 24 April to 1 May 2026 — will it reopen?"
Unfortunately, the organisers have made it clear:No! If you did not enter the Ballot at that time, please explore other entry options.。
However, if you did enter the 2027 Ballot, congratulations! All Ballot entrants will automatically be included in the Ballot pool for the events on 24 and 25 April 2027. If you chose to donate your entry fee when registering, your odds of being selected will automatically double, effectively giving you four chances to be drawn!
When will the Ballot results be announced? Officials say Ballot notifications will be sent in July 2026, at which point you will also be told which day you’ll be racing.
"Can I run both days?" Sorry — no.Each runner may only choose one of the days to compete.。
For the elite athletes, Good For Age entrants, and wheelchair races, the 2027 events will be split by gender.One of the days will host the elite men’s racesincluding the T53/T54 men’s wheelchair races and the Good For Age men’s category, followed by the mass participation waves;
The other day will host the elite women's race.the T53/T54 women's wheelchair division, the age‑qualified women's groups, followed by the mass participation wave. (Note: on each race day the mass wave will no longer be split by gender.)
Will this become the new normal?
No — officials have made it clear thatthe 2027 "two‑day extravaganza" is a one‑off special event, limited to 2027.。
In addition, on Friday, 23 April 2027 the TCS London Marathon's "Friday Night Lights" event will take place as usual (TCS London Marathon & Friday Night Lights event).
A two‑day spectacle — 100,000 runners on the same course!
The 2027 TCS London Marathon is guaranteed to turn heads. This "two‑day extravaganza" is not only a leap in scale but also a fresh upgrade to the participant experience.
Runners, are you ready for this historic London Marathon?First off, the ballot acceptance rate will likely remain alarmingly low.
It looks like sports brands and marketing teams will have plenty of room to get creative across a two‑day full marathon.
