On the afternoon of November 11, 2025, the Chongqing Marathon Organizing Committee announced the official cancellation of the Mini Health Run, retaining only the full marathon; the Mini Run entry fees will be fully refunded via the original payment method within 2 working days, with no action required from participants. The Mini Run for the 2026 Chongqing Marathon was originally scheduled to start on January 18, 2026, with a total of 10,000 participants. In addition to refunding entry fees, the organizing committee will also cover participants' transportation and accommodation losses caused by the cancellation: for travel and accommodation booked before the announcement for the event period — travel to Chongqing from January 14 to 17, and return travel from January 18 to 19 — the costs of round-trip plane, train, and bus tickets and hotel cancellation fees will be reimbursed. The entry fee for the 2026 Chongqing Marathon Mini Run was 120 yuan per person, and some participants have already begun receiving refunds. Compared with the Shanghai Marathon Health Run's scale of 15,000 people, the Chongqing Mini Run's participation is also substantial. A rough calculation shows the loss on entry fees alone amounts to 1.2 million yuan, not including the subsequent chain reactions such as hotel vacancy caused by cancellations, transportation cancellations, and economic losses from itinerary changes and rebookings. This year many races' mini runs and health/fun runs have been repeatedly canceled; the mini run at the Chongqing Marathon was not spared. Even with the organizing committee's proactive refund and compensation measures, it may still be difficult to fully make up for runners' disappointment.
