Marathoners dominate the trails: Yang Chunlong and Wang Min win Chongli 168 50 km men's and women's titles.

This weekend the 2026 ACG Chongli 168 Supertrail kicked off,50K individual category (53.2 km, 2466 m ascent)The gun went off at 6:00 this morning. In previous editions the 50K was held as a team event with limited elite participation and a less prominent competitive landscape. This year the race introduced the Wanlong 50K individual category for the first time, making this distance an official new stage for short-distance trail racing.

During the race, two road-and-trail athletes surprised everyone.

Yang Chunlong claimed the Wanlong 50 men's title in 4:24:47.

Wang Min won the Wanlong 50 women's title in 5:19:12.

Marathon runners also put on an impressive show on the trails!

Race highlights

On the men's side the field was stacked: Qin Guidu led the men's elite lineup with the highest ITRA points. This year he won the HK100 and finished runner-up at Australia's UTA by UTMB, coming into the event in great form. His main rival Shen Jiasheng, still not fully recovered from injury, ultimately did not race.

But speed specialists Yang Chunlong, Nianzhe Ati, Wu Erqing, Zi Juwei and others were also eyeing the title, and their presence intensified the fight for victory.

The women's competition became more compelling with the addition of Japan's ACG athlete Takamura Takako — a widely recognized top-level short-distance trail runner in Asia who would surely target the top podium.

Facing such strong opponents, whether domestic female elites Zheng Bingling, Luo Ping and Yang Yan could rely on team tactics and home advantage to hold the podium emerged as the biggest question in the category.

After the start

Young runner Zi Juwei began the race in good form and gradually took the lead, reaching CP1 in 1:06:29, 1:48 ahead of second-placed Zhao Guohu.

Qin Guidu and Yang Chunlong were 1:57 behind Zi Juwei, tied for third.

On the women's side, Wang Min — the 2023 Chongli 168 70km champion — ran strongly, taking the lead and becoming the main rival to second-placed Japanese runner Takamura Takako.

At CP1 Wang Min already had nearly a 3½-minute lead. Zheng Bingling sat just behind Takamura Takako in third.

On the second stage between CP1 and CP2 the men's race changed significantly. Yang Chunlong gradually pushed the pace, overtaking Zi Juwei to move into first; Qin Guidu also cut his gap to Zi to within 30 seconds and by CP3 had likewise passed Zi to take second.

Meanwhile Wang Min began to bring the race under her control, switching into "solo" mode and steadily extending her lead.

Thereafter the men's and women's races developed steadily; as the distance increased, Yang Chunlong andWang Min is getting closer to reaching the summit in Chongli.

Approaching the finish line

In the final stage, Qin Guidu launched an all-out chase; although he cut the gap to Yang Chunlong by just over two minutes, Yang had already built a sufficiently large lead in earlier stages.

In the end, Yang Chunlong crossed the line first in 4:24:47. Affected by the weather and unable to achieve the pre-race "sub-4" goal, he nonetheless claimed another title — no doubt a big confidence boost as he transitions to the trail scene.

Qin Guidu finished second in 4:28:18. Japanese athleteKoken Ogasawara finished third in 4:30:38.

On the women's side, Wang Min had nearly a 20-minute lead at the penultimate timing point, and she unsurprisingly took the women's title, finishing in 5:19:12.

Gao Cun Guizi took second in 5:37:18, and Yang Yan claimed third in 5:44:11.

With the conclusion of the 2026 崇礼 168 万龙 50K category, will the impressive performances of marathoners Yang Chunlong and Wang Min attract more marathon runners to the trail scene?
