What does Luwan Stadium mean to Shanghai runners?
Not a venue you only visit for races, but a regular base where people come to put in laps. Blue track, green turf, lit-up stands—every night there’s a group circling the track, and weekend afternoons are never short of footsteps. It has witnessed countless first 5 km runs, first 10 km runs, and countless moments when PBs were broken.
On August 30, PUMA took over the entire Luwan Stadium. From afternoon into evening, the track, the stands, and the lights belonged solely to runners.
That day featured not only brand-sponsored interactive experiences, but nearly 20 running clubs gathering in one place, plus a PR5000 series special for Luwan running clubs. You’d really miss out if you didn’t run a lap.
From afternoon gear try-ons and running-club interactions to the evening 5,000 m races, PUMA wanted to turn that Sunday at Luwan Stadium into a festival for all runners.

PUMA Speed Station: a major upgrade
More runner-focused
If you were at Luwan last year, you probably remember that PUMA space. In May last year PUMA officially unveiled the innovative running space “PUMA Speed Station” at Luwan Stadium. Since then it’s become a fixed fixture beside the track. A year later, the space has completed hardware iterations and expanded its service offerings.

First, a more distinctive frontage with increased brightness makes the space easier for runners to spot. Inside the fitting area has been expanded, there are plenty of benches—eight people can sit comfortably at once. The community culture wall now tells more stories: PR5000 bibs, running-club photos, PBs, runner stories... all documenting how runners grow stronger at Luwan.

There’s also the debut of PUMA’s brand-new running shoe lineup. Every detail of the upgrade is designed to let runners fully focus on the joy of running.
Unlike a typical retail experience, the upgraded station offers more than static displays. Runners can put on the latest shoes, go out and run a few laps, and let the feel speak for itself on the real Luwan track.

The upgraded PUMA Speed Station is no longer just a meetup point but a place runners genuinely want to stay. From pre-run fittings and gear storage to post-run stretching, recovery and refueling, everything is set up to help runners concentrate on enjoying the run itself.

Complete rundown of PUMA’s latest running shoe lineup
The biggest highlight of the upgraded Speed Station is PUMA’s all-new running shoe lineup.
The new lineup covers the three main scenes—racing, training, and cushioning—from top-level carbon-plated race shoes to everyday trainers, with options for elite athletes and beginner runners alike.

Race day: built to chase speed
FAST-R NITRO ELITE 3 (Alien Claw 3)
PUMA’s fastest racing shoe ever. It’s about 80 g lighter than the previous generation; a single size 42 shoe weighs only around 170 g. Tests show it can improve running economy by about 3.15%, which for a 3-hour marathoner equates to saving more than 4 minutes 30 seconds. Suited for serious runners aiming to attack their personal bests on race day.
DEVIATE NITRO ELITE 4 (Biaopo Elite 4)
A flagship built for long-distance racing. The redesigned shovel-shaped PWRPLATE carbon plate has optimized geometry and a ribbed gradient design that effectively reduces pressure on the metatarsals, delivering a more aggressive roll and propulsion. Suited for high-intensity efforts in full- and half-marathon races.

Everyday training: adaptable to every scenario
DEVIATE NITRO 4 (Biaopo 4)
A carbon‑plate racing shoe that balances training and racing. The upper and lower layers of the midsole foam are tuned separately for cushioning and rebound—absorbing impact on landing and unleashing strong return on toe‑off. The PWRPLATE carbon plate has moderate stiffness, delivering a linear, gentle propulsion that even intermediate runners new to carbon plates can handle with ease. Suited for interval sessions and long road runs alike.
VELOCITY NITRO 5 (Biaosu 5)
The latest iteration of PUMA’s most popular everyday training line. A wider base means the shoe continues to support you reliably when you hit the later stages and form starts to loosen. In the words of a PUMA product manager, it’s a shoe that “silently takes on all your training without complaint.” Recovery runs, pre‑race mileage, weekend long runs—one shoe covers all daily training scenarios.
DEVIATE PURE
PUMA’s newest plate‑free racing shoe series. It keeps the excellent rebound of NITROFOAM while removing the carbon plate to lower the handling threshold—ideal for runners who want to feel the nitrogen‑tech cushioning without carbon‑plate propulsion. It has racing DNA but is equally streetable for everyday wear.
MAGMAX NITRO 2
Flagship maximal‑cushion shoe, fitted with the largest amount of NITROFOAM nitrogen cushioning technology to deliver a bouncy, protective ride. Suited to heavier runners and those who prioritize comfort above all.

All of the above shoes will be available for free try‑ons at the PUMA Speed Station. Want to test top‑tier carbon‑plate propulsion? Want to feel the lightweight ride of the latest VELOCITY NITRO 5? No need to visit a store—the shoes will be right beside the track. Put them on and run a lap; let your feet feel for themselves.

Luwan’s running culture is becoming increasingly vibrant
Luwan Stadium is more than just a great track.
It’s also about the people who run here, the races that happen, and the atmosphere that has settled in.From the unwavering weekly group runs to the races and experience events brands like PUMA continuously bring, Luwan is evolving from a “training ground” into a hub for Shanghai’s running culture.

PR5000 is the best example. Co‑created by PUMA, the Huangpu Sports Bureau and Luwan Sports Center, the 5000m series is held at Luwan Stadium once every two months.
On Luwan’s smooth, regulation blue track you challenge your Personal Record—hence the name PR5000. Whether you’re an elite or a beginner, PUMA welcomes you to Luwan to “check in” at Shanghai’s running shrine and celebrate the runner’s joy of PUMA Speed.

This PR5000 PUMA Speed race on August 30 coincided with the Luwan group run’s 12th anniversary. PUMA not only invested extra resources but also invited nearly 20 running groups to join.
Run Together, Shanghai UP Running Group, Heilian Running Group, RCC, Dark Running Group, Yushen Running Group, DarkRunners, Wenti Shuangxiu, SGRC South Garden Running Group, Peking University Shanghai Running Group, FitFam, Bubu Training Camp, 129 Training Camp, Sijing Tang, FNR, Tsinghua Shanghai Running Group, Green Tile Running Group, Xinti Training Camp... They are not "invited guests", but the "permanent residents" of this Luwan site.
This was more than a race—it was a rare, large gathering for Shanghai’s running community. PUMA hopes to show more runners that Luwan Stadium belongs to anyone who wants to run. Whether you’re elite or a newcomer, whether you’re chasing a PB or soaking up the atmosphere, Luwan’s track is open to you.

August 30
PR5000 awaits your challenge
The 5000m distance is classic and universal. For elites it’s a tug at the limits of speed; for the wider running public it’s a perfect distance to push personal boundaries. On Luwan’s blue track, 12.5 laps—no more, no less—equals exactly 5000m. This effort is dedicated to past persistence and to the next starting line.

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, PUMA booked the entire Luwan Stadium. Whether you’re coming to chase a PB, try new shoes, meet old friends, or simply celebrate a sweaty birthday on the Luwan track, you’re welcome.
Since this is a celebration for all runners, the fun shouldn’t be limited to those who managed to secure a spot.
Lastly, here's a bonus: trail running. We’ve prepared a small number of PR5000 direct-entry spots (including the elite and open fields) for runners who couldn’t grab registration right away but still want to race.
Track, gear, the race and friends — everything’s ready.
See you at Luwan on August 30.
