With the full recovery and deepening development of China's road-running events, the entire industry is undergoing a profound transformation. The initial "running boom" that drove rapid, large-scale expansion has officially shifted into a high-quality development phase centered on professionalization and standardization. Today, the highly anticipated "China Marathon Events Blue Book" (hereafter the "Blue Book") was officially released. The report uses detailed, authoritative data to present a panoramic view of the current Chinese road-running industry and its underlying dynamics. In 2025, total finishers at Chinese Athletics Association-certified events (A and B categories) reached 2,602,700; marathon finishers totaled 740,900; half marathon finishers totaled 1,861,800. Finishers across all events showed significant increases compared with 2024. In 2025 the top three provinces (including autonomous regions and municipalities) by number of marathons hosted were: Zhejiang Province — 46 events; Shandong Province — 43; Jiangsu Province — 37. The overall average finishing time for marathon events in 2025 was 04:06:04, nearly one minute faster than in 2024; the overall average finishing time for half marathons was 02:06:14, essentially unchanged from 2024. In 2025 there were 21,997 marathon finishers at or under 3:00:00; 88,691 finishers at or under 3:30:00. There were 50,809 half marathon finishers at or under 1:30:00 in 2025. Male runners accounted for 79.4% of marathon finishers in 2025, with female runners making up 20.6%; for half marathons, males were 73% and females 27%. Among all finishers, the largest age group for male runners was 35–39, comprising 20.14%; for female runners the largest age group was also 35–39, comprising 22.69%. Within marathon events specifically, the largest male age group was 35–39 (20.65%); for female marathoners the largest age group was 40–44 (22.68%).
