















2025 Guangzhou Marathon fired the starting gun today at Tianhe Sports Center. The biggest surprise of the day was Ethiopian runner Joyce Chepkemoi Tele, who broke the Guangzhou Marathon women's course record with a time of 2:22:40.
In the men's race, Afewerk Mesfin Woldetensae and Felix Kirwa staged a sprint showdown in the closing stages. Woldetensae crossed the line first in 2:12:23, taking victory by a two-second margin.
Chinese runner Zaxi Ciren showed tremendous fighting spirit, remaining with the lead group through the first 30 km and finishing third overall — and first among domestic athletes — in 2:14:06. Yang Chunlong and Solang Cairen finished second and third among Chinese male runners, respectively.
Ding Changqin claimed the Chinese women's title in 2:35:40! Tang Xiaofang and Song Jinting were second and third among domestic women.
