The 15th National Games opened in grand style last night at the Guangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium. With torchbearers from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao jointly lighting the main cauldron, the intense competition is now underway. The racewalking events will kick off first in Zhuhai on Wednesday, November 12; the marathon — the race runners are most focused on — will start on Saturday, November 15 in Shenzhen. Other track and field events will also get underway on November 15. Athletics, marathon and racewalking will award a total of 49 gold medals.
