Today, the 2026 ANTA Champion HK100 reached its second day with competition in The Half 50K category. Facing a field of overseas elites, Chinese athletes performed strongly: Wang Ruqin and Huang Xuemei took the men's and women's titles respectively, while Shi Guo and Yang Yan also stood on the podium.
On the trail running shoe leaderboard, the athletes' choices were also noteworthy. Wang Ruqin chose KAILAS's FUGA EX PRO, while Huang Xuemei wore the much-discussed speed-oriented Nike ACG Ultrafly Trail. After signing with NNormal, Shi Guo helped the Kjerag 2 reach the HK100 podium. Yang Yan gave the ANTA Champion Falcon series another silver.
Interestingly, two European runners both opted for HOKA's racing road shoe Rocket X series. While people marveled at how strong HOKA's trail-running DNA is at its core, it's likely that those choices are closely tied to athletes' pursuit of even greater speed.
I wonder whether tomorrow's 100K race will see road-running shoes back on the podium?
