Before the 100 km race, Zhang Zhenlong—who had led the category for the first two days—was in control, but he accelerated too early in the 100 km and was overtaken by Xiong and Wu. Wu Yongbo never found his rhythm in the first two days; on the final day he went all-in on the 100 km, becoming the first in the Grand Slam category to finish the 100 km.
