1️⃣ For the 2026 Boston Marathon, applicants whose qualifying times were at least 4 minutes 34 seconds faster than the BQ have been accepted. In 2025 that threshold was 6 minutes 51 seconds. (Note: a new BQ standard was introduced this year — the BQ for ages 18–59 was tightened by 5 minutes, so the 2026 Boston Marathon is even more competitive!) 2️⃣ This year a total of 33,249 runners applied; 24,362 have been accepted or have times pending verification, for an acceptance rate of 73.27%. 3️⃣ Gender breakdown of accepted runners: Male: 13,823 (56.74%); Female: 10,429 (42.81%); Non-binary: 110 (0.45%). 4️⃣ Of those accepted, 5,397 were at least 20 minutes faster than their qualifying standard; 8,961 were 10:00–19:59 faster; 10,004 were 4:34–9:59 faster. 5️⃣ 719 qualifiers earned entry by completing 10 or more consecutive Boston Marathons. 6️⃣ Runners from 120 countries or regions will participate in the 2026 Boston Marathon. 7️⃣ Approximately 10,710 runners will be first-time Boston Marathon participants. 8️⃣ Among the selected runners the youngest is 18 and the oldest 83. #Boston Marathon #World Marathon Majors #BQ #TrailRunningBoom #marathon #running
