On November 7, 2025 (Beijing time), Wanda Sports' official social media account announced the race date for the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 Shanghai Chongming, next year's race will be held on May 17, 2026.

This year's IRONMAN 70.3 Shanghai Chongming saw 1,310 triathletes from 42 countries and regions compete. Chinese athlete Bass (Li Pengcheng) won the overall age-group title with a time of 3:51:35, setting the fastest performance by a Chinese athlete in the 70.3 distance.
After a year, the IRONMAN 70.3 races will not only return to Chongming, Shanghai, but will also add two events in September and November. Exact dates and locations have not yet been announced, but for domestic triathlon enthusiasts this does mean more opportunities to take part in high-profile races. Fans can also look forward to which top international triathletes will come to China to compete this year.
Looking back, several cities across the country have hosted IRONMAN 70.3 races, including Liuzhou, Xi'an, Xiamen, Hefei and Qujing, and of course the earlier Haikou (held for three consecutive years from 2008-2010). The Liuzhou and Xi'an events in 2020 were scheduled for September, while Xiamen was scheduled for November. Which of these cities do you think will once again welcome IRONMAN 70.3?
