Yesterday, the 2026 Lanzhou Marathon concluded. This morning, race certificates are already available for download.
According to participants' race certificates, the number of sub-3 finishers at this year's Lanzhou Marathon was about 381. For a mid-altitude marathon held at 1,520 meters above sea level — and with heavy rain later in the race — that's not a small number.

However, compared with last year and the year before, the number of sub-3 finishers dropped slightly. Last year there were 552 sub-3 finishers at the Lanzhou Marathon, and the year before that 452.
We noticed the split times on the finish certificate are laid out along the race route — a rather interesting design.
The 2026 Lanzhou Marathon allocated 25,000 full marathon entries. Based on that figure, the sub-3 rate is around 1.5%, which is indeed not high.
This year's Lanzhou Marathon theme remains "Conquer the Mid-Plateau", and a PB wall was set up at the finish. Did you set a PB at Lanzhou this year?
