The 2026 Huangyan Nine Peaks Trail Running Masters has concluded. Because the mass category and the elite category started at different times, we had the opportunity to compile two separate shoe leaderboards. The mass category yielded 1,180 samples, and the elite category 49 samples (data source: photographed at the 1 km mark of the course). Let’s take a look at how the two shoe lists differ. First, the elite category: a total of 15 brands made the list. Salomon ranks first with 14 pairs, 凯乐石 ranks second with 11 pairs, followed by 安踏冠军 with 5 pairs and HOKA with 3 pairs. adidas, 亚瑟士, 户外特工, 李宁 and WAXE each have two pairs, while NNormal, Under Armour, On昂跑, La sportiva, 始祖鸟 and Rossignol each have one. This data comes from athletes contracted to the brands. As the home team, Salomon naturally put significant resources into the race; KAILAS FUGA has long had an advantage in the number of sponsored athletes; and for other brands, as the pool of trail runners grows, emerging brands also have opportunities to sign athletes. But entering the race is one thing — getting results on the course is another. In the mass category, 37 brands appeared on the list. 凯乐石 leads with 353 pairs, overtaking Salomon for first place and accounting for 29.9%; Salomon is not far behind with 334 pairs, accounting for 28.3%. Together the two brands account for nearly 60% — more than half the field. HOKA is third with 157 pairs, a 13.3% share. La sportiva has 79 pairs, ranking fourth. The two international giants adidas and Nike sit at 10th and 13th respectively — is that expected or surprising? La sportiva and BROOKS are the “dark horses” on this list. For the major brands, how advantages in the road/running shoe market translate into the trail running market still warrants more discussion. Among the 37 brands on the list there was even Safety Jogger, a brand focused on safety footwear. Only one pair was spotted in the whole field — I wonder which runner was wearing it.
