At 7:00 AM on March 15 (this Sunday), the SPDB Shanghai Half Marathon will gun off. This is the second year since the Shanghai Half Marathon officially announced its bid for the Platinum Label. According to social media and communications with athletes and brands, the elite field includes two Platinum Label athletes and five Gold Label athletes. On the men's side, the two Platinum Label athletes are Kenyan veterans Solomon Kirwa YEGO (PB 59:29) and Felix KIRWA (PB 01:01:49); Felix set his PB on this familiar course. Among domestic men, Wu Xiangdong and Ma Rui lead the field. The 'President' ran 2:08:48 in Osaka last month and is in fine form. Ma Rui opened the year with a 2:13:32 at the Chongqing Marathon, finishing fourth among Chinese runners.
