The answer is 20 races. But as it stands, four districts have no half marathon events in 2026. The 2026 Shanghai road race season is opened by the Jiading Half Marathon, and Shanghai’s only full marathon — the Shanghai Marathon — closes out the schedule.   According to the 2026 calendar for Shanghai’s districts, the Jing'an Half Marathon will be replaced this year by the China 10K (Shanghai Jing'an stop), although it will still be organized by the Jing'an Half Marathon organizing committee.   Besides that, Xuhui, Yangpu and Hongkou are the three remaining districts without half marathons. The forest trail half marathon previously held at Gongqing Forest Park in Yangpu District does not appear on the 2026 calendar. And the Xuhui Riverside International Corporate Half Marathon — the event Xuhui had been waiting for last year — has been downgraded to a 10K. There is currently no half marathon listed for Xuhui or Hongkou in this year’s calendar.   After the Spring Festival and with the arrival of spring, the first marathon season of 2026 will begin.
