The 2026 Hong Kong Marathon fired the starting gun at 6:00 this morning on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. This year's race attracted notable competitors including Han Il-ryong, Yuki Kawauchi, Chen Tianyu and Gao Peng. After 42.195 km of racing, 2017 Hong Kong Marathon champion BIZUNEH Melaku Belachew regained the title nine years later with a time of 2:09:39! TOO Silas Kiprono and LANGAT Francis Kipkorir finished second and third. Han Il-ryong finished sixth in 2:10:39, while Yuki Kawauchi placed 16th in 2:19:52. Chen Tianyu and Gao Peng moved up in the latter stages — Chen finished 27th in 2:22:18, and Gao Peng 28th in 2:22:52. HABTEGEBREL Shitaye Eshete put in a solid performance, winning the women's title in 2 hours 27 minutes 03 seconds; TESFAY Nigisti Haltu and MASAl Linet Chepkwemoi secured second and third, respectively.
