The 2027 Chongqing Marathon will mark its 15th anniversary, and pre-registration officially opens this Wednesday (September 2, 2026).

Pre-registration period: September 2, 2026 to September 13, 2026.

The race is scheduled to start on January 10, 2027.

This will be the second consecutive year the Chongqing Marathon is held earlier; January 10, 2027 also clashes with the 2027 Xiamen Marathon — which one will you run?

The Chongqing course starts and finishes at Haitang Yanyu Park, with two turnbacks on the full route (under Chaotianmen Bridge and at the Ronghui Jiangshan intersection).

The course is known for being flat and is regarded as one of the country's "easiest courses for PBs." In 2026 the Chongqing Marathon had over 4,000 sub-3 finishers, the second-highest number in the first half of 2026 after Wuxi.

Runners can register via the Chongqing Marathon official website (www.cqmarathon.com), the "Chongqing Marathon" WeChat official account, or the "Chongqing Zhongma Sports" WeChat official account.

Over the past three years the Chongqing Marathon's lottery acceptance rate has been, as people say, "nearly impossible to get":

2024: About 170,000 people applied overall; 151,662 registered for the full marathon; lottery acceptance rate only 3.98%;

2025: 221,436 applicants overall; 215,116 full marathon applicants; acceptance rate 7.29%;

2026: 266,358 applicants (a record high); 233,249 full marathon applicants; acceptance rate 4.29%, equivalent to roughly 23 people vying for one spot.

Competition for 2027 is expected to remain fierce.

How do you think your lottery luck will be this year? Set your alarm for September 2, 2026 — see you on the registration website!
