
On Sunday (4th) morning in Nice, France, at the Prom’Classic 10km, 24-year-old Belgian Jana Van Lent took the victory and in the processbroke the European women's 10km road record.
Van Lent crossed the line in 30 minutes 10 seconds, breaking Paula Radcliffe's European record that had stood since 2003 (30:21). That year Radcliffe set that mark while preparing for the London Marathon, and she went on to break the marathon world record with 2:15:25.
Right from the start, Van Lent showed aggressive intent, running the 5 km split in 14:42,one of the fastest splits ever recorded by a European in a standalone 5 km race. Although her pace eased slightly in the second half, the Belgian still finished strongly in 30:10 to finish strongly, raising Radcliffe's recordby a full 11 seconds。

Over the past 12 months, Van Lent has been one of Europe’s fastest-improving middle- and long-distance runners. In May she took both the individual and team golds at the European 10,000m Cup held in Pacé and finished fourth at the season-ending SPAR European Cross Country Championships, leading Belgium to a historic team title.
On the track, Van Lent this summer also becamethe first Belgian woman to break the 15-minute barrier in the 5000m,并将全国纪录提升至 14:37.47.

In this race, French athlete Alessia Zarbo and Anaëlle Guillonnet finished second and third, with times of 31:12 and 31:39. Both had previously been, at the 2025 SPAR European Cross Country Championshipsmembers of the French team that won the team silver medal. On the men's side, just 20 years old French athlete Gaston Rohmer with 28:28 to win.
