Kyle said this wasn't the first time the three-generation group had entered the race, but the family were still amazed by their grandfather's achievement.
“He gets up every morning to fetch the paper and buy coffee, then walks about 20,000 steps a day."It's incredible." Grandfather always tells the family, "I run becauseit keeps me sane, keeps me healthy, and keeps me out of trouble."!”

Three generations running together inspire more people to take up running
The 26-year-old runner finished third in the race; he said his grandfather inspired him to start running. "It's something I can never forget. Every time I see him running, I think of it; he lost his wife a few years ago, and I think that is what has kept him going."

Scottish Athletics said Winship's resultis considered a "world best" in the M90 age group, rather than a "world record"because non-professional road races do not have sufficient accuracy in record-keeping.
Although there is currently no professional body that formally recognizes results in the M90 category, there have been no reports of a 90-year-old running a faster time.

After finishing the 10 km, Winship did feel somewhat unsteady on his feet, to the point that medical staff tried to help him into a wheelchair, but, as ever, he was unfazed.
As for his next goal, tireless as ever he seems intent on aiming higher than 1:04:37: "I want to live to 100."
