90-year-old Giuseppe D'Amato runs Milan Marathon in 4:30:30, sets 90+ world record

90-year-old Italian runner Giuseppe D'Amato finished last week's Milan marathon in 4:30:30, averaging a pace of 6:24, setting the world record for full marathons for the 90-plus category. This time is 1 hour 44 minutes and 14 seconds faster than the previous record (6:14:44). Notably, the previous 90-plus full marathon world record holder, Antonio Rao, is also Italian — he ran 6:14:44 at the Rome Marathon in March 2023. On reflection, it’s surprising that the world of 90-year-olds seems even more competitive than that of middle-aged runners. Last year the national marathon average finishing time was 4:06:04 — at ninety, Giuseppe D'Amato is now approaching that average. This was also his 17th full marathon since he started running at 73. It’s never too late to start running; endurance sports have no limits. (Image source: Instagram) #TrailRunningBoom #running #worldrecord #enduranceSports #marathon
