At the end of February, Beijing’s Sanlitun Taikoo Li welcomed a special “outdoor player” — Nike’s professional outdoor brand ACG (All Conditions Gear) officially opened the world’s first ACG “Base Camp” (ACG Base Camp).
Stepping into the ACG global Base Camp, you don’t see a shop — you find a camp where every corner tells a story and stirs your inner urge to head into the wild. The brand defines the space as an “immersive outdoor experience”: from themed window displays to interactive exhibits, from bespoke services to community events, ACG Base Camp aims to make every visitor who walks through the door feel the tactile “outdoor quality.” Even passersby can be drawn in by a narrative about trail running, hiking and exploration.
In a sense, the ACG Global Basecamp is not just a fresh start after the brand relaunch; it is also a deep practice in outdoor culture, community connection, and urban lifestyle—and the best declaration of a return to the original intention of exploring nature.

As the world's first ACG Global Basecamp, choosing Sanlitun in Beijing as its location carries strong symbolic significance. Sanlitun is the crossroads of Beijing's trends and culture and a barometer of younger generations' lifestyles. By placing its flagship here, ACG signals that it does not regard the outdoors as something reserved for the 'distant'—instead, it aims to build a 'forward outpost' to nature in the city center.
In an interview, Nike Greater China ACG Brand General Manager Fitz Paccione said, “The world's first ACG Global Basecamp landing in Beijing marks a milestone for the ACG brand. We are relaunching with a clearer positioning around professional outdoor performance.”
Unlike past ACG products that swung between urban commuting and outdoor functionality, the new store demonstrates a high degree of professional purity. From the store design, this is less like a traditional shop and more like a miniature outdoor camp. The shopis divided into multiple themed areas, each of which is "telling a story" in its own way:

Main store highlights: Uses natural textures and animal motifs as its visual language, awakening people's imagination of the outdoors. Right at the entrance, in the most prominent spot, stands a model goat, its gaze resolute, as if asking you, "Where are you planning to go wild today?"Beside it is a cheeky SLOGAN: "Put it on and go wild. (worn to be wild)".It implies a call to action: gear isn't meant to be looked at, it's meant to be worn.

Discovery Zone:Through interactive storytelling installations, vividly present the brand's latest technologies and innovations, such as trail running shoes and hiking gear featuring ACG core technology, making the technology tangible.

Hardcore Gear Collection:Centered on three disciplines: trail running, hiking, and outdoor explorationProducts are displayed by scenario with a clear function-first layout, precisely meeting needs from urban light outdoor activities to extreme expeditions.

ACG By You Customization Area:offers outdoor enthusiasts personalized gear imprinting services, making each piece of gear a unique companion for exploration.

Rendezvous for the wilds:A continuously flowing community space that will host talks, field tests, outdoor salons and other events — a spiritual hub for the "Wilders".

Notably, the store exclusively displays the hardcover edition of the Nike store pictorial "NIKE LOOK", inspired by the Air Milano adaptive inflation and temperature-control system for its cover — a playful nod to "pumping some air into the outdoors" that further reinforces the brand's sense of technology and storytelling.

From late February to early March, the ACG base kicked off the community with an "all-terrain fast trail run." ACG trail runner Ren Ti joined more than a hundred outdoor enthusiasts on the "Mountain Express" departing the city for Jinshanling.

An unexpected heavy snowfall became the event's most authentic "field test" — mud, packed snow, and low temperatures perfectly matched ACG's "All Conditions Gear in All Conditions" brand DNA. One hundred runners were split into "Team Goat" and "Team Marmot" to take on a highly challenging trail race at the foot of the Great Wall.

This community model of "gathering in the city, releasing in the wild" is exactly the brand ecosystem ACG basecamp is trying to create. It goes beyond selling gear — it provides the courage to set out, routes, companions, and experiences.
As Yang Liwei, the Chinese women's basketball player who checked tickets for everyone before departure, said: "The ACG basecamp is like an entrance, encouraging more people to step into the outdoors, and allowing 'wild friends' like me to find a sense of belonging."

In the fast pace of city life, the ACG basecamp offers a rare outdoor vibe. It's not just a shopping destination; it's a place to imagine the mountains, prepare to set out, and meet like-minded people — true to its name: "basecamp". In the future, as similar events expand to cities like Shanghai and Shenzhen, ACG is redefining the relationship between brands and users, and between cities and nature, through the "basecamp" approach.
This is not just an outdoor experiment launching from Beijing; it's also a new dialogue between brands and cities, and between nature and people.
"Throw it on and hit the trails" may be the call most worth answering this spring.
