Now that the next-generation ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 5 has been gradually leaking online, what traces of the previous model can we spot on it? And what new upgrades and changes does it bring?   On the upper, it’s still easy to see that the ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 5 is very similar to the previous generation. Both use an upper made from a MONO yarn–like material and employ a longitudinal lockdown system on the upper. On the PRO 5, the heel pull tab has been removed. That "This too shall pass" and the little Easter eggs tied to special colorways are, unfortunately, gone.   The most eye-catching change on the PRO 5 is the midsole configuration — an exposed carbon ring that runs almost through the midsole. The carbon column structure of the previous PRO 4 has been replaced with a carbon ring similar to the EVO 3. The subtle wrinkles visible on the foam suggest this generation’s LIGHTSTRIKE PRO midsole foam is still tuned toward a softer, springy feel.   At the shoe’s medial arch, the carbon ring structure has been altered, with a clearly defined support area. It’s obvious the PRO 5 aims to provide some arch support through the plate’s geometry and stiffness. When everyone runs at similar speeds, the runner whose foot—and whose shoe—offers more stable support will expend less energy. As is well known, the marathon is a sport of precise energy management.   The overall design language of the PRO 5 draws more from the EVO 3. The most obvious detail is the opening at the heel — the mirror finish on the carbon ring reflects "ADIZERO". At the same time, the PRO 5 retains some PRO 4 elements, such as the shape of the lateral wall of the mid-to-forefoot foam; the outsole design still follows the previous generation as a template, but by extending the outsole over the lateral arch area, the landing transition should be smoother compared with the PRO 4. You can even spot a bit of BOSTON 13 in the chamfer from midfoot to heel.   Are you looking forward to the PRO 5?
