Adidas has officially launched a highly disruptive new shoe — the Adizero Dropset Elite. The company defines it as "the first true Hybrid Fitness Racing Shoe." It breaks the boundary between traditional running shoes and cross-training shoes, attempting to solve the ultimate problem that plagues countless HYROX and CrossFit athletes: how to both run fast and remain rock-solid during strength events in the same competition. Pain point: running shoes are too soft, strength-training shoes are too stiff In events like HYROX, which combine an 8-kilometer run with eight functional fitness stations (such as sled push/pull, wall balls, burpees), shoe choice has always been a mysterious art. Adidas's solution is blunt and straightforward: stitch together the best racing tech (Adizero) with the most stable cross-training tech (Dropset). Core tech: a speed-and-strength "hybrid" Adizero Dropset Elite's design logic is very clear — it's not a "compromise" shoe, but a sewn-together performance monster: 1. Midsole: Lightstrike Pro foam downshifted This is the shoe's biggest highlight. Adidas has taken the core tech from its marathon racing flagships (for example the Adios Pro series) — Lightstrike Pro foam — and used it in this cross-training shoe. Function: Lightstrike Pro is famed for its extreme lightness and high rebound. Stability: Energy Rim To solve the instability caused by Lightstrike Pro being too soft, Adidas did not simply add a carbon plate (carbon plates can cause injury during lateral movement).
