Run a Platinum‑Label Half on the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge? Registration Opens Today

World Athletics-certified Platinum Label event — the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge (Hong Kong Section) Half Marathon public entry is about to open. This is the third Platinum Label half marathon in mainland China, and the first Platinum Label road race held in Hong Kong. This year the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge half marathon has been upgraded from a Gold Label to a Platinum Label, becoming China’s third Platinum Label half marathon. With this level of status and the substantial prize money, might we see some familiar athletes or even Hong Kong and Macau celebrities take part (for example, Chow Yun-fat participated in the inaugural race in 2024)? Registration period: Opens on June 18, 2026 (Thursday) at 14:00 and closes on July 2, 2026 (Thursday) at 12:00. Race date: Sunday, November 15, 2026. There are 8,000 places for the half marathon and 2,000 places for the 10km category. Start/finish: Hong Kong Link Road of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge; Holding area assembly: AsiaWorld-Expo. Overseas runners landing at Hong Kong International Airport will be closer to both the start/finish and the holding area. Although the organisers provide shuttle buses from several designated locations, participants who have raced before report that the shuttle drop-off point is still nearly 2 km from the start line and requires walking. That is one of the more inconvenient aspects of this event (consider it part of your warm-up). Half marathon entry fees: Local participants: HKD 550 (approx. CNY 475); Non-local participants: USD 85 (approx. CNY 575). 10km entry fees: Local participants: HKD 450 (approx. CNY 390); Non-local participants: USD 75 (approx. CNY 510). Runners must truthfully declare their estimated finish time when registering. The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge event has many race corrals — with this year’s addition of the 10km category there are five groups in total, which is already a large number for a half marathon. The strict requirement to provide estimated finish times is to help place runners into appropriate waves and ensure the event runs smoothly. Race pack collection will be at Chater Garden, Central, Hong Kong. Times: Friday, November 13, 2026 — 12:00 to 20:00; Saturday, November 14, 2026 — 10:00 to 18:00. Race-day start schedule below. Note that the official cut-off/check-in closure times are almost all about 1 hour 15 minutes earlier than the gun time for the corresponding waves — runners will need to get up early. 10km Challenge: 6:15 AM start; Half Marathon Challenge: 7:15 AM start; Half Marathon Wave 1: 7:45 AM start; Half Marathon Wave 2: 8:15 AM start; Half Marathon Wave 3: 8:45 AM start. Last year this race only had the half marathon with 8,000 runners. This year an additional 2,000 places have been added for the 10km. If you don’t want to run the half marathon, you can choose the 10km to experience a Platinum Label event and the thrill of racing across the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge. A Platinum Label half marathon combined with running on a cross-sea bridge — chasing a PB in the sea breeze, what’s not to enjoy?
