Kipchoge Congratulates Savi

On April 26, 2026, humanity at the London Marathon finally fulfilled a long-held wish, running under two hours in an official race.Kenyan Sebastian Savi and Ethiopian Yomif Kogacha clocked 1:59:30 and  1:59:41 respectively, breaking the 2-hour barrier. The human marathon has entered the 1:59 era.

The wall has been broken.

At this historic moment, as the first athlete to break two hours over the 42.195 km distance, Eliud Kipchoge posted congratulations on his personal social media for the two younger athletes:

Today is a historic day for the marathon! Two athletes broke the magical two-hour barrier at the London Marathon, which shows that when talent, progress and an unwavering belief in human potential come together, we are only just beginning to explore the possibilities. My sincerest congratulations to Sebastian Savi and Yomif Kejelcha.

Breaking the two-hour barrier in the marathon has long been a dream for runners around the world, and today you made that dream come true.

In the INEOS 1:59 Challenge we proved to the world that it was possible, and I have always hoped to see another athlete carry that belief and break that barrier in an official marathon to create a miracle.

May this achievement inspire the next generation and remind the world: human potential is limitless.

"The 'Marathon God' Eliud Kipchoge has long repeated the phrase 'No Human Is Limited.'" Today it has finally materialized; the torch he carried in his steadfast pursuit of 1:59 has at last been passed to a younger generation of marathoners.

Humans age and eventually pass away, but belief endures and legends are immortal.

Sometimes I feel Eliud Kipchoge is like Roger from the famous manga One Piece. Roger, in his final moments, ushered in the Great Pirate Era with a single line.

And Eliud Kipchoge is the true marathon king of this world; with the phraseNo Human Is Limited” he ushered in the 1:59 era of human marathoning, and Sawei and Kejiacha have reached the final island Laugh Tale, but I believe more people will achieve this great feat in the future.
