On the evening of March 9 (Beijing time), the great marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge wrote on his personal social platform: "Africa is the starting point of my journey as an athlete and the land where I am deeply rooted. Beginning this world tour on my own continent is especially meaningful. It is a tribute to the immense strength of African running, and I hope it will inspire the next generation. Completing the first marathon of my 'Seven-Continents World Tour' in Africa carries enormous significance for my life. Cape Town Marathon, I can't wait."
The 2026 Cape Town Marathon will take place on May 24. Currently, the Cape Town Marathon, like the Shanghai Marathon, is a candidate event for the World Marathon Majors.
For Eliud Kipchoge, the Cape Town Marathon is not only the first stop of his "Seven-Continents World Tour," but also the first time in his professional career that he will run a full marathon in Africa.
On March 11 and March 13, Eliud Kipchoge will announce further itinerary details. How will he choose the Asian marathon? Shanghai or Bangkok, or which other race do you think it might be?
