Shanghai Marathon Start Guide — Most Convenient Routes for Runners from Each District

Two days to go until the Shanghai Marathon — today we bring you a start-line guide.

The check-in entrances for each start zone at this year's Shanghai Marathon are:

Area A Jiangxi Middle Road - Hankou Road intersection

Zone B Jiangxi Middle Road - Jiujiang Road intersection

Zone C Jiangxi Middle Road - Nanjing East Road intersection

Zone D Jiangxi Middle Road - Beijing East Road intersection

Zone E Sichuan Middle Road - South Suzhou Road intersection

If traveling by metro, Nanjing East Road Station on Lines 2 and 10 is the subway station closest to the start check-in area.

Runners in Zones A, B, and C: Exit 7 of Nanjing East Road Station is the closest.

Runners in Zones D and E: Exit 6 of Nanjing East Road Station is the closest.

Runners in Zones A, B, C and D have a walking distance of under 500 meters after leaving the station; runners in Zone E need to walk roughly an additional 200 meters. We recommend allowing extra time.

According to the Shanghai Metro timetable, the first train on Line 2 bound for Panxiang Road · National Accounting Institute will arrive at Nanjing East Road Station at 5:34, and trains in other directions and on other lines generally arrive before 6:00, so taking the first train will leave you with ample time.

All check-in areas will open for check-in at 5:30 on race day, if you have not completed check-in by 30 minutes before the start ( i.e. A, B zones 6:30; C zone 6:40; D, E zones 6:50) you have not completed check-in,their result will not be considered an official race result and cannot be used for race rankings or awards.

Due to traffic control around the start area, for those taking a taxi the nearest drop-off point to the start is also near Nanjing East Road Metro Station. Because traffic in the area is often congested during the start, consider getting off a little earlier (a bit farther from the start) to avoid long waits in the vehicle. All things considered, we recommend taking the metro.

After entering the security checkpoint, you'll first check your bags. Before stepping onto the official course, the organizers have arranged unisex toilets as well as separate men's and women's restrooms along both sides of the route — very considerate. Lighten your load and take care of any last-minute needs, then enjoy the course!

Finally, best of luck to everyone taking part in the Shanghai Marathon — hope you all run great races!
