
The women's 10,000m final at the 15th National Games featured 29 athletes. Women's 5000m champion Liang Tiantian, the women's marathon podium finishers Zhang Deshun, Ciren Cuomu and Lu Ying, along with several other marathon competitors, took to the 10,000m start line. In the early stages Henan's Lu Ying and Yunnan's Zhang Deshun alternately led; after 15 laps Beijing's Liu Min moved into the lead. With eight laps remaining the lead group had shrunk to six. In the final 2 km Sichuan's He Wuxia, Shandong's Liu Huiru, Ciren Cuomu, Zhang Deshun and Liang Tiantian formed the lead group. With two laps to go Li Meizhen gradually dropped off. In the end Liang Tiantian produced a powerful surge to win in 32:23.40, setting a new PB. Zhang Deshun (32:25.31) took silver and Ciren Cuomu (32:25.63) bronze. A total of 15 athletes set PBs.
