On the morning of October 24, 2025, the Nanjing Marathon's operator 汇跑赛事 posted an important announcement on its official WeChat account, formally canceling the mini health run event, and at the same time confirming that registration fees for the health run will be refunded in full to the original payment method within 7 working days, with no action required from runners. The mini health run at the 2025 Nanjing Marathon was originally scheduled to start on November 16, with a total of 6,000 participants. In addition to refunding registration fees, the organizing committee will also fully reimburse cancellation costs for round-trip flights, train tickets, coach tickets and hotel bookings to and from Nanjing during the event period (November 12–17, 2025). According to feedback from runners who registered through the Nanjing Marathon's charity entry, those who chose charity slots can keep their entry for the marathon, and the 1,400 yuan of the registration fee that was originally intended to be donated in a directed manner to partner charities will be refunded to the original payment method within 7 working days. This means that this year runners who registered via the Nanjing Marathon's charity entry secured a full marathon spot for just 200 yuan, effectively making them the sole beneficiaries amid this nationwide wave of marathon and health run cancellations. With refunds now being processed by the Nanjing Marathon, does this indicate that more national events will replicate the same approach, and that mini health runs and charity slots may become a thing of the past?
