1. Men's 3000m steeplechase final was held in two heats. Tibet's Zhaxi Ciren won in 8:36.16 and set a national season best; defending champion Chen Yongchao of Guizhou won his heat and took silver in 8:40.20; Tibet's Nima Sangzhu was third in 8:42.75. 2. Men's 800m final, Zhejiang's Song Zhiyuan won in 1:47.13, Jilin's Lu Zilong was a hair behind in 1:47.14 — a photo-finish decided the race. Sichuan youngster Yin Zihao led for much of the race and finished third in 1:47.40. 3. Women's 100m hurdles heats, Wu Yanni had a quick reaction and steady rhythm between hurdles, running 13.06s in Heat 3 to finish first in her heat and top the overall qualifying list, comfortably advancing to the final. 4. Men's 400m final, Shandong's Liu Kai went out aggressively and ran shoulder-to-shoulder with Guangdong's Li Minghao and Anhui's Li Xiang through 200m. He held on in the closing stages to win in 45.67s; Li Minghao took silver in 45.99s (all three finalists ran in the 46s), and Li Xiang set a PB of 46.06s for bronze. 5. Women's 400m final, Shanghai's Jiang Yutong controlled the race from the front, resisting the late charge from Jiangsu's Liu Yutong and Guangxi's Li Fengdan after 300m to win in 52.93s; Liu Yutong was second in 53.57s, and Fujian's Lei Juexin overtook on the home straight for bronze in 53.58s, while Li Fengdan faded to fourth. 6. Men's 200m final, Shanghai's Huang Youwen led early out of the blocks and maintained position coming off the bend alongside Hubei's Liu Ke. In the final phase Liu Ke held and accelerated away to win in 20.26s (PB), becoming the third-fastest Chinese man in 200m history; Huang Youwen was second in 20.46s, and Liaoning's Chang Ji took bronze in 20.59s (PB). 7. Women's 200m final, Hunan's Huang Yu had a fast start and established a lead on the bend, holding off the straightaway charge to win in 23.42s (PB); Sichuan's Liu Yinglan surged from the outer lane to take second in 23.51s (SB), and Shanghai's Huang Yufei was third in 23.59s (PB). 8. Mixed 4×100m relay final, Sichuan led throughout thanks to excellent start reactions and smooth baton exchanges, with Liu Xiajun anchoring to a win in 40.90s (SB); Fujian was second in 41.43s, and Beijing third in 41.85s. Last night's heavy rain in Quzhou did not deter the field-event competitors. Shandong swept the discus gold and silver. Feng Bin returned to the national championships and won gold with 62.51m; her provincial teammate Jiang Zhichao threw 61.85m to set a season best and take silver; Jiangsu's Huang Jingru set a PB of 58.38m to claim bronze. Men's long jump saw Hunan's Zhang Mingkun leap 8.24m to edge out defending champion Gao Peiqi of Shandong for the title. In the men's hammer, Jiangsu swept the podium. Wang Qi exceeded the 73m mark on all three of his attempts, and teammate Li Zixu threw 73.54m. Wang Qi ultimately secured the title with 73.93m, Li Zixu took silver, and Chen Jiawei was third with 69.98m. Today's track schedule features the women's 10,000m in the morning; the evening session includes the men's and women's 4x100m relays, the 400m hurdles finals, the women's 800m final, the men's 110m hurdles and women's 100m hurdles finals, and the men's 5000m — all highly anticipated.
