Yomif Kejelcha Returns to the Half Marathon, Targeting the Course Record!
On August 23, this Sunday at 8:00 a.m. Argentina time (19:00 Beijing time the same day), Ethiopian distance running star Yomif Kejelcha (Yomif Kejelcha) will line up at the Buenos Aires Half Marathon 。
The 29-year-old Kejelcha ran 1:59:41 at this year’s London Marathon, becoming one of the athletes to break the two-hour barrier in history and recording the fastest marathon debut on record.
In 2024 he ran 57:30 at the Valencia Half Marathon, which remains the second-fastest men’s half marathon time in history. In addition to the half marathon, he currently holds the men’s road 10 km world record of 26:31.
In 2025, half marathon world record holder Jacob Kiplimo won in Buenos Aires in 58:29, improving the course record by 36 seconds. If weather and pace conditions are ideal, the course record will undoubtedly be one of the main storylines to watch.
After his breakthrough at the London Marathon, returning to the half marathon he’s more familiar with — how fast can Kejelcha go?
This Sunday, let’s watch and find out together!
