Building a “Track–Road–Trail” Matrix Lets Star Runners Be Bolder About Staying on Top

Where has 必迈 stood in the running scene over the past few years?

Third on the Beijing Marathon sub-3 shoe list, with Chengdu Marathon and Wuxi Marathon similarly placing it near the top.

If you have a friend who runs marathons, give them a pair of 必迈 shoes and they’ll most likely call you "tasteful".

Because only people inside the running community know the value of it as a "hidden gem of road running".

Product strength is solid, but exposure has been restrained. After more than ten years of effort, investment has gone only into performance and relationships with runners.

When you're in peak form, looking back at your shoe rack or wardrobe, you'll more or less find at least one 必迈 product.

But changes in the running scene move faster than brand narratives. What problems has 必迈 encountered in recent years?

01

What prompted 必迈 to launch

a new "race, road, trail" matrix?

Haven’t you noticed? In the past two years, more and more road runners who've had enough of the pavement have started heading into the mountains.

The "road-and-trail dual" tag is no longer limited to a minority of runners; in road races, the share of mass-elite runners is also growing.

As a "model student of road running," 必迈 seems a bit one-sided against this backdrop.

To let these runners continue to show a "can't-be-stopped" attitude and welcome the challenges between road and wild, 必迈 is currently offering runners a new "product blueprint" through its "race, road, trail" matrix positioning.

The most direct piece of the puzzle is the trail-representing 陆巡50.

As the brand’s first truly professional trail running shoe, it fills 必迈’s gap from being a "hidden gem of road running" to having presence on trail courses.

The "50" in the name is meaningful: it represents the 30–50 km category, which has the largest number of trail running participants domestically, yet its hardware can withstand 100 km-level challenges.

Now about "race" and "train."

驚碳 4 features the new T1000 carbon plate, advancing propulsion while maintaining long-distance stability. Unlike those "cutting-edge weapons" designed only for elite athletes, recreational runners can handle it too.

驚碳 4 SL fills the most easily overlooked but most-worn category in the brand's matrix: a super training shoe without a full-length high-rigidity plate, with a natural underfoot feel and feedback comparable to carbon-plated shoes. Designed for high-frequency tempo work, speed sessions and long slow distance (LSD), it's an all-purpose "train" shoe.

The relationship between SL and 4 isn't a top-and-bottom configuration, but a streamlined matrix of "race" and "train" within the "road" system. Train with more confidence; on race day be even more "unstoppable".

The Expedition series (远征者) has also reached its 6th generation. It's the pair often "recommended to buddies" in running groups. The wide last is comfortable, the supercritical midsole cushioning resists compression, and it's the default option for piling up aerobic volume on everyday road runs.

Viewed individually, none of the pieces would count as "explosive" among domestic running shoes in 2026. But together, they represent a road-running brand of over ten years finally closing the circle on "race, road, trail".

Last year, placing third on the Beijing Marathon "sub-3" shoe list was the runners’ real vote of confidence in 必迈’s road-running products. 必迈 used a full product suite to match the real needs of different runners, stages, and terrains. With "race, road, trail" converged, that trust has extended from road running into the mountains.

This extension wasn't achieved through a "product PPT" but by running two real courses.

The 驚 Tech Festival landed in Hangzhou Longjing,

handing the product launch over to runners

At the end of August in Hangzhou Longjing, unlike other brands' product launches, the 必迈 驚 Tech Festival used a trail run through Longjing tea hills and a timed uphill race to gather a group of 'tasters'—people extremely picky about shoe performance—together for a bootcamp-style field test that people jokingly called the "Longjing athletics school."

There were brand-contracted athletes, running group leaders and running influencers from across the country, and local runners...

Of course, there were many grassroots runners who couldn't make it to the event; 必迈 hasn't forgotten them.

At the exhibition, each runner's story with 必迈 was gathered into individual "panes".

Walk around and read closely, and you'll find 必迈’s development inseparable from those unassuming yet ambitious "on-form runners" chasing their dreams.

So everyone—those present and those absent—witnessed that this event wasn't a staged demo but an on-site, real testing experience letting people immerse themselves in the new products. After all, field tests across different groups are what give ordinary runners a truly reliable endorsement.

Early last Friday, a downpour hit the West Lake. I had originally planned to "take it easy" on the 13km "Little Fox" trail, but the bluestone and loess became extremely slippery and muddy, and I ended up in a mess...

Fortunately, the 陆巡50’s good outsole anti-slip performance and lug depth spared me and my companions from falling on our butts; its excellent cushioning and stability also protected me from impact and ankle rolls on long downhills.

The downpour turned many slopes into veritable "rivers," making those of us wearing 陆巡50 (Cruiser meaning "cruiser") particularly fitting. Isn't this storm-soaked trail test way more hardcore than any product presentation?

The next morning, Longjing's slopes felt like a steam room; the air was thick and stifling.

Continuous tight turns and climbs felt like a combo that nearly blew my cardio apart. I, hoping to push up the leaderboard, had no time to breathe and just wanted to get the "closing" over with. 驚碳 4 helped me "end the fight" quickly.

Finishing 10th on the final 2.2km uphill segment, I could feel 驚碳 4's on-slope running feel: the carbon plate's stiffness was perceptible, providing propulsion and quick rebound; yet its "character" is mild—no wobble in turns, stable downhill, and a natural, comfortable underfoot feel.

Runners' approval of a shoe after high-intensity racing in hot, humid conditions is far more tangible than product data.

Two extreme weathers, two completely different surfaces. The road-running questions were answered on the sweltering slopes; the trail challenges were settled in the downpour.

And I was briefly "on form" those two days. I was the first to reach the finish line at both running activities—these great memories were supported by the two shoes under my feet: one for road and one for trail.

"Less grand brand and product storytelling, more feedback from runners of different levels in real conditions—that becomes the most solid endorsement of product strength." This is exactly 必迈’s consistent way of communicating with runners and consumers.

Real feedback underfoot will finish what the "race, road, trail" matrix starts saying about 必迈.

But putting the product on runners' feet is only the first step; whether that trust can extend from road running to the wilderness, from one event to the rest of the season and beyond, is the next question 必迈 truly needs to answer.

03

From a "hidden gem of road running" to "full-line development",

what does the "extension of trust" rely on?

The answer to that question lies in the current "race, road, trail" matrix itself.

陆巡50 expands into new trail territory; the 驚碳 4 family completes the racing and training segmentation. 必迈 officially moves from a "road-running powerhouse" toward a full-scenario brand for road-and-trail crossover.

When runners are "on form"—tapering for races to chase times, stacking daily mileage, and still wanting to head into the mountains for a 30km weekend—previously they often had to "mix-and-match shoes across brands", re-breaking in feels while switching between different matrices...

Now 必迈 has closed the "race, road, trail" circle at once. That means under the same logo it can cover your unglamorous road and trail mileage in the second half of the year all the way to racing moments where you "can't be stopped" while charging to the finish.

More important than the product itself is how this matrix is delivered to runners' feet — leveraging a decade-plus of accumulated large user base to complete an efficient "trust transfer".

Runners who already trusted 必迈’s road products can naturally continue choosing the same brand for training, racing, and trail scenes. This is an advantage many new entrants can hardly replicate.

So the key to a full-matrix rollout isn't educating the market from zero, it's handing the "new puzzle pieces" to "old friends".

Old friends know you best, right? So when runners receive this full-matrix gear, they don't need to hesitate or trial-and-error; the answer is on the foot.

As more runners wear 必迈’s products on racecourses during the second-half season, on weekend trails, and in daily training, the real experiences and growth potential of this complete matrix likewise point to being "unstoppable"—and the brand's presence speaks for itself.

©必迈

The public validation of two field tests proved 必迈’s outstanding performance and promising expectations for the new products and matrix; the future racecourse is where more "on-form runners" will verify this matrix's true value.

必迈 has proven over more than ten years one thing: a good product doesn't fear being hidden away.

必迈 has advanced and solidified every midsole generation, every shoe and every product step by step; it hasn't chased trends or overexposed itself. Its product philosophy is like that of every "on-form runner": turning tedious workouts, day after day of quiet mileage accumulation and analysis, into a stronger self — so it is with the brand.

With "race, road, trail" converged, it has finally run out of the "alley" and onto the all-scenario track. When a matrix can cover your year-round roads, you only need to pick one brand—the rest is up to your hard-working, unstoppable self!
