On July 27, Fuzhou University issued a public notice of proposed appointments for its 2026 high-level teaching and research recruitment. After application, qualification review, interviews, assessments and medical examinations, the university identified 30 proposed appointees.
Among them, women's 100m hurdles star Lin Yuwei is proposed to be hired for a teaching and research position in Fuzhou University's Department of Physical Education Teaching and Research. The notice shows Lin Yuwei graduated from East China Normal University majoring in Physical Education; education level and degree: undergraduate, Bachelor; note: "high-level athlete". The public notice period is July 27 to August 4.
Lin Yuwei was born in May 1999. She joined the Fuzhou City Sports Work Team in 2010, was sent to the Fujian Provincial Athletics and Cycling Sports Management Center in 2016, and was selected for the national team in 2021.
At the 14th National Games in 2021, she won the women's 100m hurdles title in 12.88 seconds, thereby entering the ranks of the country's top hurdlers.
In the women's 100m hurdles final at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, despite a suboptimal start reaction, Lin Yuwei powered through the latter stages to cross the line first in 12.74 seconds. That mark was a new personal best and met the qualifying standard for the Paris Olympics.

At present, the related appointment is still in the public notice stage. If the notice proceeds smoothly, Lin Yuwei will transition from the competitive arena to a university teaching and research role.
From the "Asian Flying Man" Su Bingtian taking up a teaching post at Jinan University, to Lin Yuwei's proposed appointment at Fuzhou University, the addition of an active athlete who still has high-level competition experience is expected to bring professional training, competitive psychology and major-competition know-how more directly into university sports teaching and student development.
For them, it is also a way to continue their athletic careers in a different form.
