From September 23 to 29, 2026, Asia’s top-level multi-sport athletics event — the athletics competitions at the 2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games — will be held in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City, Japan.

The athletics programme comprises 48 events across track, field and combined events, with 48 coveted gold medals up for grabs.

China’s athletics team heads to the Games with a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars. Veteran Xie Zhenye will make his fourth Asian Games appearance; Feng Bin will begin a title defense in the discus. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Chen Yujie makes her debut, and Yan Ziyi and Niu Chunge will compete in the javelin and pole vault, respectively. The next generation is primed to make an impact and is equally worth watching.

Additionally, Wu Yanni and Lin Yuwei will both contest the women’s hurdles, while Zhang Jiale and Zhao Jie form a one-two punch in the hammer throw — another storyline to watch.

Over the seven-day schedule, each day promises drama. Who will push their limits and pull off a breakthrough at this premier Asian athletics spectacle?
