On August 29, 2026, the podium battles in the UTMB CCC category concluded in rainy Chamonix.
On the men's side, 42-year-old Italian veteran and KAILAS FUGA athlete Cristian MINOGGIO made his CCC debut wearing KAILAS EX PRO. Thanks to a late-race surge, he settled in and extended his lead after the 80 km mark, ultimately crossing the line first in 10 hours 21 minutes 48 seconds. After finishing second in last year's OCC, he now stands on the top step of the CCC podium this year.
The men's runner-up was also a KAILAS FUGA athlete: Portugal's Miguel ARSENIO chose the KAILAS EX PRO G. He delivered a consistent performance throughout, closed in after the Champex-Lac checkpoint to move into second place, and finished in 10 hours 27 minutes 25 seconds.
HOKA athlete and American "Baguette Boy" Hans TROYER ran in a HOKA test shoe. He stayed with the men's lead group from the start, moved into the lead after the La Fouly checkpoint, but was overtaken at the Trient CP and ultimately took third in 10 hours 33 minutes 29 seconds.
The women's race was even more dramatic. Norway's Yngvild KASPERSEN, wearing adidas' new racing trail shoe AGRAVIC SPEED ULTRA EVO, staged a comeback in the second half to take the win in 12 hours 1 minute 14 seconds — her second CCC title after 2023.
South African Toni McCann also chose the adidas AGRAVIC SPEED ULTRA EVO. Her tense tug-of-war with Yao Miao in the first half added a lot of suspense to the race; she ultimately claimed second in 12 hours 6 minutes 16 seconds. Toni topped CCC in 2024 and was forced to withdraw last year due to a fall.
Chinese runner Yao Miao ran in ACG's new trail shoe Picklejus. She led from the start and engaged in a thrilling back-and-forth with Toni McCann, eventually finishing third in 12 hours 15 minutes 41 seconds, marking her fourth consecutive year on the UTMB podium.
Were this year's UTMB CCC results what you expected? What are you looking forward to in the rest of UTMB?
