On August 29, 2026, the podium battle for the UTMB CCC category concluded in rainy Chamonix.
In the men's race, 42-year-old Italian veteran and KAILAS FUGA athlete Cristian MINOGGIO made his CCC debut wearing the KAILAS EX PRO. Thanks to a strong finish, he settled into and steadily extended his lead after 80 km, ultimately crossing the line first in 10:21:48 — after taking second in last year's OCC, he now stands atop this year's CCC podium.
The men's runner-up was also a KAILAS FUGA athlete: Portugal's Miguel ARSENIO, who chose the KAILAS EX PRO G. He delivered a consistent performance throughout, closed in after the Lac de Champex checkpoint to move into second, and finished in 10:27:25.
HOKA athlete and American "Baguette Boy" Hans TROYER, wearing a HOKA test shoe, was in the men's lead pack from the start. After passing the La Fouly checkpoint he moved into the lead, but was overtaken at the Trient CP and ultimately took third in 10:33:29.
The women's race was even more dramatic: Norway's Yngvild KASPERSEN, in adidas's new racing trail shoe AGRAVIC SPEED ULTRA EVO, staged a comeback in the second half and won in 12:01:14 — her second CCC title of her career, following 2023.
South African Toni McCann also wore the adidas AGRAVIC SPEED ULTRA EVO. She and Yao Miao engaged in a tense duel in the first half that added plenty of suspense; McCann finished second in 12:06:16. Toni won CCC in 2024 but was forced to withdraw last year due to a fall.
Chinese runner Yao Miao wore ACG's new trail shoe Picklejus; she led from the start and then traded a gripping back-and-forth with Toni McCann, ultimately taking third in 12:15:41 — her fourth consecutive year on the UTMB podium.
Were the results of this year's UTMB CCC what you expected? What are your expectations for the remaining UTMB races?
