Just now, China-based sports technology brand COROS has announced the end of its partnership with marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge.
In 2020, Eliud Kipchoge officially became COROS's global ambassador, and the two worked together for five years. During the partnership, Kipchoge's brightest moment was once again breaking the world record at the 2022 Berlin Marathon, and COROS played a part behind that achievement.
Eliud Kipchoge used COROS watches and the integrated Training Hub one-stop training management platform during his training. The watch monitored his daily training, including physiological data and training performance, and uploaded that data to the cloud. Coaches analyzed the athlete's performance, training effects, and changes from the data, and adjusted and updated the training plans accordingly.
Ahead of the 2022 Berlin Marathon, by analyzing several months of Kipchoge's training data, the coaching team found his fitness had significantly improved and predicted he would be in peak form in September 2022.
Based on that insight, the team made a last-minute decision to compete at the Berlin Marathon instead of the originally planned New York Marathon. As a result, Eliud Kipchoge broke his own record with a time of 2:01:09.
Of course, for COROS, the partnership with Kipchoge helped the company grow into a sports tech brand with considerable influence in the global market.
It wasn't just Eliud Kipchoge personally — the entire NN Running Team used COROS watches and training systems. The usage data and feedback from these elite athletes provided important support for COROS's EvoLab algorithm and the Training Hub platform, feeding back into product development so everyday runners could benefit.
Additionally, COROS released an Eliud Kipchoge co-branded PACE 3 watch, and last year invited Eliud Kipchoge to China to meet and interact with Chinese runners.
