The ITRA single-race performance scores from Chongli 168 have been officially released, and Chinese athletes staged a collective breakout at this edition.
In the 70 km men's category Zhang Huohua scored 945 ITRA points, setting a new Asian single-race record, while in the same category Meng Guangfu's 943 points became the second-highest single-race score in Asia.
The third-highest single-race score in Asia was Zhao Jiaju's 942 points in the 168 km category; he, too, achieved over 940 as he hoped.
Three athletes surpassed 940 ITRA single-race points, and the fast course at Chongli 168 produced significant score gains for many.
Notably, in the 50 km category Yang Chunlong's 939 points marked a personal single-race high.
The overall ranking shifts from Chongli's single-race points have already become apparent: Zhang Huohua's overall performance score jumped 25 points to 916, moving him up to 11th in Asia; Yang Chunlong's overall score reached 918, putting him into the Asian top ten; and Zhao Jiaju's overall score of 927 returns him to the Asian top four.
Meng Guangfu's overall performance score of 932 keeps him second among Chinese men, while Fan Banglin at 938 remains China's top male and the highest-ranked athlete in Asia. Chinese male athletes occupy 28 of the top 30 places in Asia, creating a clear pack advantage.
After Chongli 168, the ITRA ranking landscape for Chinese trail runners is undergoing a noticeable shake-up. With the UTMB final and several major international races coming in the second half of the year, further reshuffling of the rankings is expected.
